Single Review: Indigo Wild – High Point
The guys in Indigo Wild have been quite busy since we spoke to them back in July. They opened up for the Catfish & the Bottlmen and just finished up a short tour with Utah’s Desert Noises. Now they’ve got a new single to titillate your ears with.
Fans of the Indigo Wild will recognize their signature indie-rock vibe but as Garet Camella mentioned in the interview he did with us. “Instead of focusing on sounding a specific way, we’re more focused now on making our audience feel something. We’re trying to pull from the depths of all that we’ve experienced and present it to people in a way that moves them too.” The foursome succeeds in this as the aptly titled “High Point” is definitely the best track they’ve released to date. The song kicks off with a quick build up into some soaring indie-rock beats. Once again I’m reminded of one of my favorite bands, Local Natives. Both bands share an expertise for creating perfectly layered tracks under affecting lyrics. As a listener, I can’t help but be pulled into the song completely every time I listen through it.
There’s some nostalgia to “High Point” as it pulls to mind some of the great bands that kicked off the heyday of indie-rock but it also feels like a breath of fresh air. Most of all, “High Point” helps cement Indigo Wild’s place in the genre while showcasing why are going to be the next big thing to hit the music scene. With a full length album (hopefully) coming soon, it’s only a matter of time before Indigo Wild becomes a household name.
